Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma
TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA follows Kris (Hannah Einbinder), an enthusiastic young queer director hired to resurrect the dying slasher franchise Camp Miasma after years of slapdash sequels. To do it right, she tracks down Billy Presley (Gillian Anderson), the reclusive “final girl” from the original film, and tries to coax her back in front of the camera. What starts as a reboot pitch spirals into something stranger and more intimate, as the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium. Directed by trans filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow), the film won the Queer Palm at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival — the festival’s award for LGBTQ+ cinema — and is equal parts VHS-era slasher homage and sharp, sly meta-satire: a queer love letter to the sleepover-classic horror movies that raised us.
