GIRLS LIKE GIRLS opens at Roxy
July 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
“Girls Like Girls” is a landmark sapphic anthem and coming-of-age story by LGBTQ+ pop icon Hayley Kiyoko. Originally released as a viral 2015 music video that helped define digital queer culture, it has since been adapted into a bestselling YA novel and a full-length feature film directed by Kiyoko.
The narrative follows Coley (Maya Da Costa), a teenager who moves to rural Oregon in 2006 and navigates her blossoming, complicated feelings for her closeted best friend, Sonya (Myra Molloy). The film explores the universal, terrifying vulnerability of first adolescent crushes and queer self-discovery.
